Far too cold for photos.  Brrr.  I slept last night under a duvet (admittedly on a 6 tog one), a heavy wool quilt, a thinner cotton one, a large welsh blanket and a smaller travel rug.  And the electric blankie underneath to warm it up before I got it.  But it's bitter outside and no warmer inside the bedroom - I was puffing breath in white clouds when the rest of me was all snuggled up.  And Leia gets in with me as soon as I'm in myself.

Fun day on Saturday, although I was very bad.  The wadding I'd requested hadn't turned up from Quiltessential's suppliers, so that put the kibosh on the brown wool coat I've been planning for so long.  Which explains why I succumbed to a Jellyroll of greens and reds.  And another fabulous piece of Magie's West African stuff - in greens with gold and coppers - what a surprise.  It's still far too cold to sew upstairs, and I hate to put the heater on up there as I imagine that I can see it guzzling money.  I think I'll have too though.

Farmers' Market on Sunday again - and I froze all the time.  Poor Jasper was staying with us, and the weather both inside and out was a bit of a shock to his system; I don't think he stopped shivering all the time.  So I have arranged to barter a pair of fingerless mitts with the man on the herb stall for two chili plants, one on Sunday and one on the next market, the 14th.   And the lady at Braythorne Bees has asked if I take commissions - we're talking about a warm green cardi for her to layer up with while beating.  We drove up to her place last night and collected five lovely fat freezer-ready pheasants as she was beating yesterday.  The freezer now is officially full.

And I had the wonderful treat of the dentist this morning.  Yay.  Snow and ice on the ground, so I decided to walk there - the road was jammed (I was walking faster) and I didn't trust the trains to come down from Ilkley on time given the weather.  Got to the dentists hot and bothered as the pavements were lethal at 8.30, only for no-one to open up until nearly 9 - they got caught in the snow too.  So he drilled and drilled, and amazingly he had been telling the truth, it didn't hurt on an already root-filled tooth.  Now I have a huge lump of a temporary crown until the real one gets fitted on 16th.  At a cost of £198!!!  Just what I need before Christmas.  I'm wondering how to juggle everything.

At least I had a sale on Etsy this morning so I can afford to pay for my green moccasins to come from the US.

Lots of layers being worn at home too - I still can't seem to get warm even when I'm wearing up to five layers on my top half - so not as much knitting is being worn.  But I did get to treat myself to some of the extras on the Hellboy DVD I got at the weekend.  This is preparatory to getting Hellboy II on DVD imminently, and turning into even more of a Nuada fangirl than I already am!
